Obedient Elevation - Bro. T. Stephen

Beloved children of God in Christ, I greet and bless you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The book of Deuteronomy 28:13 says, “The LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not beneath.”

According to this verse, I bless you all that the LORD will make you the head and not the tail. Many of you may desire to be a leader—whether in your family, workplace, or ministry. That desire is good, but it should not stem from pride or selfish ambition. It is God’s will that His children should never be like the tail but should be the head. This means God expects you to be in a position of influence wherever you are.

However, all of God’s promises come with conditions. These conditions are crucial. In the same chapter, Deuteronomy 28:1 states, “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today.” This means you must hear the voice of God and obey His commandments. When you live in obedience to His Word, the promised blessing follows: “The LORD will make you the head and not the tail.” We see this truth in the lives of Daniel and Joseph—God raised them to positions of leadership in the lands where they lived. Throughout the Bible, those who feared the Lord and obeyed His commandments were exalted by Him.

Today, you may feel like the tail—unrecognized, unappreciated, or lacking opportunities to progress. Perhaps you think your life will always remain the same. But God is giving you a divine instruction that can transform your situation. Begin to obey His commandments and walk in His ways, and your poverty, debts, and struggles will change. You will no longer have to follow others as the tail, but the Lord will help you stand as the head.

If you are already in a position of leadership, continue to walk in the fear of the Lord, safeguarding your position by doing what pleases Him. When you live in obedience to God, He will establish you in the place He has prepared for you. Even if your current situation seems stagnant or discouraging, remember Mordecai—who once sat at the palace gate but was later elevated next to the king. His devotion, prayer, and faithfulness to God brought him to a place of honor. The Lord will do the same for you.

Prayer:
Lord, I pray for Your children who feel insignificant, that they may be elevated to greater positions. Be gracious to honor their small beginnings. As they hear and obey Your voice, let Your grace abound in their lives. Those who repent and seek Your upliftment—bless them and their families. Grant them permanent jobs, break every barrier, and let miracles be seen. May they never have to bow their heads in shame again, but instead, give them the grace to walk with their heads held high. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
