Beloved children of God in Christ. I greet and bless you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Bible says in James 5:16, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
The fervent prayer of the righteous is very powerful. Sometimes, when we are unable to pray, the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. However, at times, our prayers go unanswered because of our sins, which stand as a barrier between us and God.
Today’s promise verse emphasizes that the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. It specifically refers to a righteous person—one who harbors no wicked thoughts or iniquities. Such a person pleases the Lord with his actions, and the Lord indeed hears his prayers. On the other hand, God does not heed the prayers of the wicked, as their hearts are filled with evil thoughts and bad intentions, which act as a stumbling block between them and the Lord. The fervent prayer of the righteous comes from someone who lives in the fear of the Lord, upholds righteousness and justice, and is mindful of his conscience. If you pray with sincerity and righteousness, God will surely hear and answer your prayers. If your prayers remain unanswered, examine your standing before the Lord—perhaps your own iniquities are hindering God from responding.
Some people seek prayers from others simply because they do not want to live righteously and be acceptable before the Lord. But this should not be the case. You must pray as a righteous person and also ask others to pray so that both prayers become even more effective. In the coming days, the Lord will answer all the prayers you have been praying for a long time. God will perform miracles and wonders in your life. Therefore, surrender yourself to a righteous life, and the Lord will hear all your prayers.

“My daughter is 2 years old. One day, she suddenly fell ill, and her condition worsened. We immediately took her to the hospital, where the doctors examined her and suspected that it might be a cancerous tumor. This news was devastating for us. During this difficult time, we attended the Anbarin Paathathil fasting meeting. After the meeting, we approached Brother Stephen and requested his prayers. Brother Stephen placed his hand over my daughter’s head and prayed earnestly for her healing. Following the prayer, we returned to the hospital, and the doctors proceeded with the operation to remove the tumor. However, after further examination, they concluded that it was just a normal tumor and assured us that there was nothing to worry about. Truly, the fervent prayer of Brother Stephen availed much, and we praise God for this miracle!”

Loving Lord, we thank You. You have said, “The fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.” Transform every reader into a righteous person, and let their prayers bring blessings to them and those around them. I bless Your children in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Fill every lack, strengthen the weak, and restore health to the sick. Lord, You are the God who multiplies—break every barrier and let us witness Your miracles and wonders. Lead us in righteousness, be with us, and do awesome things. In Jesus name, Amen.
